How To Stop Diet And Workout "Hopping"
Do you trust the process?
What I mean by that is, even during times when you don't seem to be getting any closer to your fitness goals, do you still manage to stay the course?
If you find yourself changing your diet or changing your workout plan as soon as things are no longer going the way you want them, you should stop.
It's definitely a skill that requires you to really challenge your past habits, but it will be one of the best things you can ever do for yourself. Let me explain why.
One of the oldest pieces of advice in the fitness industry is a response to the following question.
"What is the best program for me to get in shape?"
"The program you will stick to."
Words to live by.
Because results do not come from a specific program. They come from patience and consistency. They come from never not doing the basics. Even when you get bored and want to try something new, you need to sit in that boredom and fight through it.
When you find yourself reaching the point where you want to shake things up find alternatives. Practice gratitude. Challenge yourself to endure. Ask for accountability from a friend or family member.
Here's another way to think about it. Which author do you think will write a better book? The one who has been writing everyday for a year straight, or the one who starts over every 2 months?
I challenge you to reflect on the questions below. And next time you feel like changing things up, just trust the process instead.
1) When was the last time you changed your workout or nutrition routine?
2) Do you think you did so sooner than you should have?
3) If so, why?
4) If not, why?
5) What strategies can you implement next time you feel like changing your fitness or nutrition?
